Form and rules
How it works
Use most + plural or uncountable noun for a general statement: Most people like music.
Use most of + determiner/pronoun for a specific group: most of the students, most of them.
Do not usually say most of people when people means people in general.
Use the most + adjective/adverb for superlatives with many longer forms: the most interesting.
The most can also mean the greatest amount or number in a specific comparison.
